We have completed the investigation regarding scam messages sent in the name of The Barö.

The situation was caused by a phishing attempt carried out by an external criminal actor, in which The Barö’s name was used without authorisation, particularly in WhatsApp messages.

Current situation

The situation has now been fully addressed and is under control.

  • All necessary technical and organisational protective measures have been implemented.

  • Unauthorised access has been prevented.

  • User accounts and access rights have been reviewed and secured.

  • The security of our systems has been strengthened in cooperation with our system providers.

  • The matter has been reported to the Office of the Data Protection Ombudsman in accordance with legal requirements.

  • Customers affected by the situation have been contacted directly.

No payment card details, passwords, personal identity numbers, or other sensitive personal data have been compromised..
Our booking and payment systems are operating normally and securely.

What customers should know

The Barö never contacts customers via WhatsApp.

All messages claiming to be from The Barö and requesting booking confirmation or other actions via WhatsApp are scam messages and should be deleted.

We apologise for any concern the situation may have caused and thank our customers for their vigilance and understanding.
